  • The court ruled that the king cannot judge any case (though he may sit at the King’s Bench).

  • However he could make a judgement in HL with the approval of the Lords there.

    • This was based on past precedent: Since the Norman Conquest no king deemed to act as a judge, since this is the function of courts of justice.

  • It was also stated that the king cannot arrest a man, since, in the instance of wrongful arrest, the victim would have no remedy, the king being incapable of punishment by the law.
